The latest edition to the wedding dress sidebar is a 2 piece outfit. 100% silk bodice with cap sleeves teamed with a gorgeous silk ruffle skirt. The skirt features a small train and side seam pocket with press stud closure to hold the ‘something borrowed’ and ‘something blue’. The bride wanted to have an outfit that was ‘wedding enough’ but not ‘too bridey’. She also wanted to able to wear it again. I think the ruffle skirt would look great teamed with a black cami for a gala or ball.

I also covered the belt to beautifully transition the bodice fabric and tone to the skirt texture.

Toni Dress Back

The underskirt was constructed from lining with several tuel layers added from the knee down to show off the fullness and flow of the skirt.

The ruffle fabric did prove challenging to work with as they were wavey not straight and not always symmetrical, in spite of this the dress was a pleasure to make.
